OUR STORY
My Grandson, Joshua, age 17, was involved in a horrible accident, on Valentine’s Day, 2005. His car was hit by a train and we were initially told “they’re working on him, but it don’t look good”.
We cried and prayed and after about an hour, we were told, “his vital signs are stable”. From that time on, he gradually improved. Among his injuries were a traumatic brain injury, a fractured skull and vertebra, which required a ring-halo device for immobility.
We found that no usual clothes fit or were comfortable for him, so, as I’ve sewn and designed clothes since 5th grade, I designed a tee-shirt with special openings, bound the openings and added Velcro fasteners at each opening.
The Medical Staff was so impressed with Joshua’s shirts, they recommended I patent the design and sell them to other patients. So, I’ve applied for the patent and named the design for Joshua.
Joshua has recovered from his injuries He graduated from high-school and will go to college. He has already worked with Brain Injured children and plans to continue to help others. He spent a week in Mississippi as a volunteer helping feed first responders and victims of Hurricane Katrina.
